What a year it has been for our long-time CFO, Mark O’Keefe! For nearly twenty years, Mark has helped his partners at Bainco navigate the growth of the firm to over one billion dollars in assets under active management. This year, Mark’s extensive skills and unwavering dedication to his work and community were displayed and recognized in more ways than one.
In July, Mark was named a 2018 CFO of the Year by the Boston Business Journal (BBJ 2018 CFO of The Year). This annual award recognizes CFOs who make a difference in their organizations. Mark has made a profound impact on Bainco by building and maintaining an infrastructure that not only creates a robust platform from which employees work, but one that transcends technology by giving clients a comprehensive Bainco experience with a very high-touch service offering.
Separately, Mark’s expertise was featured in the InvestmentNews series Secrets Behind Success where he discusses ways to attract and retain the best talent as well as building and managing capacity for future growth. He is adept at creating narratives around key business metrics to encourage fact-based decision-making.
Outside of Bainco, Mark is very active in the community. In October 2018, he expanded his community internationally, travelling to Haiti on his sixth mission trip, his first abroad. While there, he worked at an orphanage and several local schools built and sponsored by Mission E4, a local non-profit based in Hubbardston, MA. The organization has spent the past twenty years helping to combat widespread poverty in one of the world’s poorest countries by giving nearly 2,000 children an education, a daily meal (in most cases, their only meal of the day), and access to health care – all things we easily take for granted here in the US.
We are proud of Mark’s achievements and commitments both at Bainco and in the community. Well done, Mark!
